Southeast Wise Women offers annual herbal educational programs for women: a fall weekend conference, a spring week-long immersion, and other community events and resources.
Southeast Wise Women evolved out of Red Moon Herbs — a sister herbal medicine business — over the last two decades to offer these much-loved programs in herbal education for women.
Founder and Director Corinna Wood lives at Earthaven Ecovillage in Black Mountain, North Carolina, where the Southeast Wise Women offices are based. Most of the organization’s staff also live and work within the extended Earthaven community.
The Southeast Wise Women programs, based in the Wise Woman Tradition, inspire women to deepen a connection to ourselves, the Earth and each other.
Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project’s mission is to help local farms thrive, link farmers to markets and supporters, and build healthy communities through connections to local food. ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) works to accomplish our mission by:
- Providing marketing support and training to area farmers
- Connecting area chef and foodservice buyers with the farmers who suit their needs
- Spearheading a Local Food Campaign, which includes our Local Food Guide, local food bumper sticker (have one on your car?), Get Local initiative, and more
- Certifying local products grown/raised in the Southern Appalachians as Appalachian Grown
- Running our Growing Minds Farm to School Program, which focuses on reconnecting children with where their food comes from

Just Economics of Western North Carolina (JE) is a regional, membership organization based
in Asheville, NC. Our mission is to educate, advocate, and organize for a just and sustainable economy that works for all in Western North Carolina.
JE was born out of the Asheville-Buncombe Living Wage Campaign, an effort that initially began in 2000, but took root in 2006. This coalition of faith, labor, and community groups succeeded in passing the first living wage ordinance in our region, which guarantees Asheville City employees a living wage.
The Asheville-Buncombe Food Policy Council (ABFPC) is a community-based coalition in the City of Asheville and Buncombe County, North Carolina working to achieve policy improvements that create healthier food environments and improve healthy food access for all Asheville and Buncombe County residents.
Our mission is to identify and propose innovative solutions to improve local food systems, spur local economic development and make food systems environmentally sustainable and socially just.
The Women’s Wellbeing and Development Foundation (WWD-F) is a non-profit organization that empowers women and children to achieve personal growth and the comprehensive development of their communities. WWD-F supports local and international women-run projects and creates model programs in the areas of education, health, and economic development.
