The French Broad Food Co-op (FBFC) Board of Directors wants to share our solidarity and appreciation. As we are all aware, our world and our communities are facing dynamic challenges right now. The COVID-19 pandemic has strained many established systems of operation in our society and food access is no exception. The FBFC has been helping to support local supply chains and food producers for many years. It is on that foundation of support, along with the effort and innovation of the farmers and food workers in our region, that our local food systems continue to provide for our community through this challenge.
As temporary stewards to this cooperative institution, we want to wholeheartedly and publicly say thank you to the employees who keep the Co-op’s doors open on a daily basis. They have successfully pivoted the store, as safely as possible, to minimize risk for shoppers and staff. At the same time, they’re putting themselves at risk to support access to nourishing food in our community. And to you, the owners, we thank you for showing up and shopping at the Co-op. Thank you for bringing your masks, gloves, and patience while adhering to the physical distancing measures set to keep everyone safe. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The FBFC is nothing without its committed workers and owners.
Our Co-op remains strong. The board continues its work remotely, and management will continue to provide updates as our collective situation evolves. We wish health and safety for all of the owners and staff right now. We’re stronger together, as a community, even when we are physically apart.
