DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS FUNDRAISER

Thank you to those who have supported the Double Up Food Bucks Campaign.

We have raised $781 to support ownership for Double Up Food Bucks participants.

The French Broad Co-op welcomes SNAP participants.

Double Up Food Bucks is a healthy food incentive program that doubles the value of federal nutrition benefits spent at The French Broad Food Coop, helping people buy healthy food while supporting our local farmers and economy.

When you buy fresh Fruits and Vegetables on your Snap/EBT card, you can earn a dollar for dollar match of up to $20 per day of in store credit! Once you have earned those credits, or “points” you can spend them on any fruits and vegetables (that do not contain additives like salt, sugar, fat or oil) throughout the whole store, including dried, canned, juiced or frozen!

Donate $1, $3, or $5 at the register to help our Snap/Double Up Food Bucks local families purchase a co-op ownership.

Upon your next visit, talk to a Co-op cashier to get signed up!

FEATURED BOARD TESTIMONIAL:

Provided by Andrea Burkins

It is a privilege and honor to serve on the board of directors, with the French Broad Co-Op. My work on the board has brought me closer to understanding the inner workings and has amplified my value and the role of it in our town. As a seventh generation Ashevillian, it has always been important to me to shop locally and support our surrounding farmers and small businesses. I am also a farmer, crunch mama, and active community member. I value being able to know exactly where my food comes from and know that my support helps other local families survive.

I have frequented the FBFC since 2006. I’ve been able to take care of my body, mind and soul by having the Co-Op to rely on for many of my essential needs. The bulk spice room has been my saving grace on more than one occasion. Everything from medicinal teas to munchy snacks have been easily accessible, affordable and reliable. The Co-Op is a touch stone, a relic, and a unifying force for the community, WNC growers, producers, and artists. If not for our crunchy little grocery, I would not know half of what was going on in our town, and I would not be aware of all the wonderful people who help nourish us and those we love.

The fact that the Co-op has always been there for myself, and my family, and our community has been what keeps me loving my Asheville. The Co-op feels like home.
